Barcelona assigns the name "Camp Nou" 

to combat the Corona virus 

Barcelona decided to offer up the proper to call its historical camp Nou, for the club’s foundation during subsequent season 2020-2021, during a move aimed toward raising funds to take a position in research projects in Catalonia and therefore the remainder of the planet within the fight against the Corona virus pandemic.




It is known that Barcelona has not invested within the name of its stadium since its establishment, and with this step the club institution are going to be the authorized body to look for a sponsor willing to pay a particular amount of cash which will be prescribed to put its name within the place of Camp Nou during subsequent season.

The club said during a statement posted on its website: "In the face of the most important health, economic and social crisis in modern history, FC Barcelona made an exceptional decision, a choice commensurate with the response that humanity requires at this moment of great uncertainty."

The statement continued: "Realizing that Barcelona features a commitment to the community that's a part of its identity and as quite a club, the Board of Directors has agreed to waive the ownership rights of Camp Nou for the 2020-2021 season in favor of the Barcelona Foundation to boost funds for investment in research projects that happen in Catalonia and therefore the remainder of the planet to participate within the fight against the consequences of (Covid _19).

Despite his widespread reputation under the name Camp Nou, this name wasn't officially called the stadium until 11 April 2001, because it was previously called "Barcelona Football Club Stadium".

It is mentioned that the stadium was founded in 1957, and other people wont to call it the new stadium (Camp Nou in Catalan) because the club didn't provides it a politician name yet, which name remained to the present day.

 The stadium witnessed several expansion operations, so it can now accommodate 99,354 spectators.
